WHAT WE OFFER IN THE CLASSES
St Louis Bow Hunters Archery Club
members recognized an archery development program for youth was needed
for our area. They have worked hard putting together a youth program to
fit this need, "Little Hills Youth Archery".
Archery can be puzzling for a beginner.
Some may believe you place an arrow on a bow, draw it back and let it
go. If you hit the target, you know archery. To develop skills allowing
one to grow with accuracy, additional skills will need to be learned.
Some youth are introduced to archery in
schools, 4-H or Cub Scouts. They may have enjoyed the experience but do
not own equipment or they may not know anyone who participates in
archery to ask further questions. These are excellent programs but our
program was designed for training-centered only on archery for youth. We
will teach techniques needed to grow in archery. They will have
the opportunity to enroll for a program and learn something new with
every class. Equipment may be provided for our enrollees to use during
our classes if they do not own equipment. They will be given time to
practice, each class is 1 and 1/2 hours long each.
The Little Hills Youth Archery program
will teach beginners with little or no archery experience and youth with
archery experience but need help developing their archery skills. Their
skills will be exercised by making progress through different levels
intended to test their ability. A self-paced achievement is part of this
program. Patches, certificates or pins will be given for each level they
have achieved.

different styles of archery for their recreation but our instructors are

Common Questions Asked
Q: How old does my child need to be?
A: Only you know your child, some develop faster and are ready at a
younger age. We accept children the ages of 8 - 18 years of age.
Q: Will I need to become a member of
a club?
A: Membership may be required after a child sees they like archery.
Since we are a JOAD chartered club with NAA (National Archery
Association). Children have until they move to the 20 yard
shooting line to determine if they like archery and want to continue
receiving the NAA achievement awards. Little Hills Youth Archery
Achievement Certificates or patches will be given if they do not want to
join with NAA .
Q: What if my child does not have
equipment?
A: Little Hills Youth Archers has the basic equipment for use in their
programs. You may decide to purchase equipment for your child after you
see they like and are interested in archery. Having their own
equipment personalizes it for them and allows additional equipment to be
added to their bow that may help with accuracy.
Q: What steps for safety will be
implemented?
A: The instructors will teach equipment & safety rules before new
archers begin to practice. A safe indoor-setting will be maintained.

Archery can be a fun and
challenging sport for everyone that has ventured into the sport. One may
not be able to compete in other types of sports for different reasons
but archery may be the sport to try.

archery as a group. Children as young as six begin archery and
practice with their families; brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles,

sports that offers this but archery has brightened the eyes for many
a child and adult!

Archery is simply
repeating a sequence of steps causing the arrows to hit the same
spot every time. Are you up for the challenge?

of bows and equipment on the market today for all age groups and styles
of archery. Pro-shops are plentiful with trained professionals that will
